Ebenezer

Our house is officially on the market!  A dear family came over on Monday to prayer walk around our house and Cady gave them each rocks. The mom, called them her Ebenezers, and encouraged us to remember the things that the Lord has done. I enjoy so much sharing with you these Ebenezers.

This time last month, we asked you to help us get to 50%. In just a few days, we not only hit 50% but blew that number out of the water. We are now at 57% of our monthly needs and close to 70% of our start up costs. God is so faithful to supply what we need when we need it. Thank you joining in on what God is doing in us and in Uganda.

I also want to take a minute to update you about things happening in Uganda. We are so excited to hear of how God is continuing to “establish the work of their hands” and we are eager to get back and jump in. The following is taken from Terry Nester’s recent email update. I just had to share.

“Go and make disciples of ALL nations….teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you…”  Jesus

This quote written in Matthew from the lips of Jesus has become a reality to us in these last few weeks! I just wanted to share a bit of what’s been going on. On Sunday, March 1st we started a discipleship class called, Biblical Foundations  at Acacia Community Church, we had 13 people attend the first class and it was amazing! The very next week at the end of the class two young men came to say they weren’t sure about their eternal life and we were able to lead them to Christ! God is good!

On Wednesday, March 4th we also started teaching the Biblical Foundations class to an organization that ministers to about 250 children from the slums around Jinja. These children live in about 15 different houses while they are getting educated, and each house has a “house manager”. We are teaching this curriculum to these 15 house managers so that they will be equipped to properly minister to the children that live in their house. What a great opportunity to disciple others!

On Monday, March 2nd we started teaching BTCP/L at Acacia Community with 13 people attending a MWF night class and 18 people attending a T/Th night class! It’s been amazing to see the hunger and thirst for God’s Word and for Biblical Truth. The people are excited to be attending and growing in their knowledge of Scripture! Our goal is, “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature…..then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves and blown here and there by every wind of teaching ….” (Ephesians 4:12-14)

On Sunday, March 8th we had a sweet time of fellowship at Acacia Community as we spent time praying over our leadership and then presenting the Word of God. At the close of the service a young lady came forward to say, “Today Pastor, I want to follow Jesus as my Savior!” As I sent her away with a counselor Debbie came from the children’s church building (143 kids in there!) and said, with tears, “Fifteen children have accepted Christ today as their Savior!”   God is so amazing!

Doesn’t that just make you want to jump on a plane and check it out for yourself… come on.
Prayer Requests:
– We would trust the Lord with the selling of the house.  Financial paperwork would be approved smoothly.
– Wisdom on when to purchase flights.
– Jennifer, a young girl who will be coming over with us for 6 weeks this summer. Her preparations, both practical and spiritual.
– God would give us new opportunities to cast the vision for East Africa Outreach and the calling God has on our family to join them.  If you or your church would like to hear more, please contact us at jerilynsemail@yahoo.com
